In 2008 this was my first England call up. I was delighted to be asked to run as part of Team England in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon team challenge as a result of my London marathon performance earlier in 2008. This was an England Athletics development event to give up and coming, improving and promising athletes a chance to get a taster of a real elite experience in a major international marathon. I was blown away by this experience. I loved every minute of it from the days prior to the marathon and the actually marathon itself. It is wonderful course, in a stunning city, and the support was amazing! I left wanting more.
You can imagine my elation when I was invited to run in same event the following year. The experience was just as good, if not better, the course and crowds just as special as I remembered despite a small adjustment to the course which made for a nice surprise and change of scenery.
Team England was 3rd in the challange in 2008 and in 2009 we were the winners.
I would certainly return to run Toronto Waterfront Marathon again. It is fabulous event and the organisers surpass themselves.
